I have a review of the Open Ears Festival in the current issue of summer '11 issue of Signal To Noise (sadly, their last quarterly publication; they moving to be an annual).

VOC Silent Film Harmonic, April 15 - Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger

The VOC returns to the Registry Theatre to accompany Alfred Hitchcock's "The Lodger" (imdb, wikipedia) on Friday, April 15th at 8pm


Tickets are: at the door: $15 at the Registry or The Centre in the Square, $10 with a Food Bank donation. $5 eyeGO tickets are also available. Advance tix are $15 via Centre in the Square website.

In a review from our Jekyll & Hyde show, Stephen Preece of the KW Record wrote: ""One interesting element of this music was the degree to which the discord was so well articulated...This is actually very difficult to do in an improvised environment and it was a good indication of the combined musicality of these players."

New words

Several cd reviews (all drip audio releases) are here in the issue #6 of Eartrip and I have a short piece - a profile on Émilie Payeur - in the new musicworks magazine (the current issue isn't updated on their website as of this entry).

VOC Silent Film Harmonic, Oct. 26 - Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

The VOC Silent Film Harmonic will accompany "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" on Thursday, October 28th, 8pm at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener.

This 1920 classic features the critically acclaimed John Barrymore and directed by London, Ontario-born John S Robertson.

Tickets are $15 at the Registry or The Centre in the Square; at the door, $10 with a Food Bank donation. $5 eyeGO tickets are also available.

The VOC is: Ted Harms on bass, David Hunsberger on clarinets, Bradford Nowak on percussion & trumpet and Wade Whittaker on guitar.
